The Economic Development Department strives to create a vibrant business community. The City has recently reduced development fees citywide for office and industrial uses by 30% and has instituted greater fee reductions in the city’s core area of up to 70%. The City of Clovis Planning and Development Department supports area businesses through its planning, building and engineering divisions. Services include planning, engineering reviews and final approval. The City offers free the Development Review Committee process. It is a pre-application meeting scheduled between developers and City Staff. It is intended to encourage discussion on potential development projects. City representatives on the Development Review Committee include representatives from the Fire, Police, Planning, Building, and Public Works Departments, in addition to the Clovis Community Development Agency. The Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District, as well as other outside agencies, may also be invited to attend the Development Review Committee meeting.
The City of Clovis Building Division is responsible for the safe regulation of design, construction, use, accessibility, location, and maintenance of buildings within the City.
