Residents in the market for a new car will have extra incentive to buy this week, as the City of Clovis kicks of Big Wins Day on Nov. 23.
For every customer who purchases a vehicle from select Clovis dealerships, the City of Clovis will rebate the city’s portion — about 1 percent — of their sales tax to the customer.
The rebate will be in the form of Big Wins Day Shop & Dine cards, which can be spent at any participating City of Clovis merchant, including about three dozen restaurants and retailers. The cards must be used by Jan. 1.
It will be a race to buy, as the promotion is limited to the first 70 vehicles — new or used — sold within the city by Clovis Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Clovis Volkswagen, Future Ford, Future Kia, Hedrick’s Chevrolet, Honda North, Lithia Nissan of Clovis and Toyota of Clovis.
The day before Thanksgiving “is typically a slow car shopping day, and this will go right along in supporting Small Business Saturday,” said Shawn Miller, business development manager for the City of Clovis. “It will be mostly mom-and-pop shops that will be accepting these (Big Wins Day Shop & Dine) cards.”
The merchants will be reimbursed for the cards by the city. Businesses can still sign up by emailing email@example.com.
